Engagement Photography?

We call it the +anticipate shoot. Couples commonly say they feel uncomfortable in front of the camera or may question the pose or style chosen. For this purpose, the +anticipate session is essential. Engagement photography is a unique opportunity to get to know your photographer, while also becoming comfortable with being posed. Once you see your photos you will often feel a sense of ease and on your wedding day it will feel much more natural.

Will all my photos be posed?

No. There will be some posed photos but also a healthy mix of candid shots. If you prefer one or the other just let us know and we can focus more attention on what you prefer.

Do you charge for out of town weddings?

Depending on how far we have to travel. Generally we do not charge a traveling fee, but we do expect the couple to cover lodging for 1 or 2 nights depending on how far from Niagara the wedding is. If the drive is 2-3 hours or more generally a stay will be required. Event in Toronto or Vaughan? No charge. Event in Sarnia or Windsor? Yes an overnight would be required.

Do you do destination weddings?

Yes. We offer destination wedding services. Depending on where you go and how long the stay is the pricing will vary. Therefore the best bet is to set up a free consult and have a chat with us so we can create a custom package. Don’t worry, custom doesn’t mean it will cost you an arm and a leg. We have some amazing examples of destination weddings in Mexico and Jamaica.

Do we need to provide your crew seats and meals at our wedding?

Yes. It is important that we are in the event space so we can see when something is happening. If we’re capturing speeches and are seated in another room, we may miss something important.  We also need food to fuel us. Generally there is not enough time to take a lunch break at weddings so feeding the team is necessary.

How many photos will I get?

Generally for a full day wedding with 1 photographer you will receive roughly 500 edited photos and with 2 photographer you will receive roughly 750+ edited photos. Our packages vary from 8 to 12 hours so that changes the amount of photos delivered.

Can I purchase the RAW images?

We do not release RAW images. We edit and deliver the best images to you. On the video side, it’s challenging to include everything we’ve captured which is why we offer the add-on option for RAW video.

How long will our photos/films take to complete?

Our contract states within 6 months the entire package will be complete. Our goal is to always have your wedding completed as soon as possible (we know you’re excited to see everything). We get busy, therefore all couples are placed in queue. Quality is key, we take our time and follow our procedures to ensure the best possible product. If you’re patient you won’t be disappointed.

How much time do I need for my formal photos?

Generally we ask for 1.5 to 2 hours. We can make it work with less time but if the crunch is on we may not have the opportunity for exploration and experimentation with the non-formal shots.

How early do we need to book?

Certain dates book up quickly but others don’t, and this really varies year to year. So to ensure you get the vendors you want at your wedding it’s best to book sooner than later. A rule of thumb is book the essential services 1 – 1.5 years in advance. You will probably experience your first challenge with booking and availability when choosing a reception venue.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Cheque or E-transfer.

What is your payment structure?

To lock in your wedding day a non-refundable retainer of 40% is required. The next installment of 50% is due at the consult roughly 1 month prior to your wedding. The final 10% is due upon completion of your product.

Does Captivate edit the photos and videos?

Yes Captivate edits everything in house. We do not out-source to a third party.

Can I pick my own music?

Captivate takes careful consideration to your music tastes when deciding which music to use and we have final say on the music used in the films.

Who owns the copyright to the photos and videos?

Captivate owns the rights to both photos and video. We reserve the right to use your photos and video for advertising purposes. We do provide a USB which contains the edited images and/or videos.

Can I hire Captivate for just photo or just video services, and do you work with other vendors?

Yes. We play well with others. We may not be the right fit for the vision of your day so we want you to have the perfect people for every job. As our ‘About Us’ states; we are laid back and easy going. We love working with others. We are involved in the community of other professionals so there is a good chance we have already worked with the other vendor(s) you have in mind.

Does Captivate help choosing photo/video locations?

Yes, we have lists for different areas in the Niagara region, Hamilton and Toronto. We also love shooting at new locations as it challenges our creativity and pulls us out of our comfort zone. You ultimately have the final say in location but we are not shy and will offer our suggestions.

Will I meet my wedding crew?

Yes but not always the complete team. The lead photographer and/or cinematographer will always be present.

Will my photos and videos be posted online?

We decide which photos and films we post online. There is no guarantee that there will be an online link or blog post. We deliver the end products to you (on USB) and from there you are free to do whatever you’d like with all your awesome content!

I still have questions.

Don’t be shy, reach out through our contact form or a phone call. We would love to sit down and chat.
